Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology may be an unfamiliar clinical department among patients, but it is actually engaged in very important work. Our department cooperates with all other clinical departments to play a role in improving the level of medical care in the entire hospital. We use CT and MRI images to diagnose patients’ diseases, and are actively involved in angiography and its procedure for the treatment of diseases.Outline
Medical care system
We are involved in the creation of diagnostic reports on most CT and MRI scans that are performed in the hospital (numbers of scans taken in FY 2010: CT: 32,435, MRI: 15,404), angiography as well as treatment involving the application of angiography during the procedure (IVR) (number of these procedures in FY 2010: 1,009).Treatment policy
With the motto “accurate and quick diagnostic imaging,” we maintain a system of reporting the results on the same day or within two days using our imaging network. Regarding angiography, we are on standby for embolization and other urgent procedures around the clock.Areas of medical care
As mentioned above, out department is largely divided into two sections.Diagnosis section (diagnostic imaging): creation of reports on diagnostic CT and MRI scan images of the whole body
Angiography/IVR section: angiography and treatment using the procedure (IVR)

Consultation hours
First-visit/return-visit reception at the angiography/IVR clinic: 8:30 a.m. – noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and FridaysFirst-visit patients are kindly requested to make an appointment through the Community Service and Welfare Network of our hospital. Patients without an appointment will wait longer.
Major tests and equipment
Three multislice CT scanners (latest 320-slice CT, 80-slice CT, 64-slice CT), one MRI scanner (3.0T), four MRI scanners (1.5T) (it is planned to replace with a 3.0T MRI), three angiography systems (of which, two systems have the capability to perform rotational DSA.
