Our outpatient department takes various approaches to dentistry for children.We handle children who are not cooperative and children with disabilities or diseases.
With the aim of improving the oral condition of children, maintaining a better condition and supporting healthy oral development, we cooperate with parents to provide dental care while giving guidance on oral hygiene and diet.
We also provide dental treatment and anticavity care for patients who have difficulty receiving normal dental care due to intellectual disability or motor function disorders.
We employ an appointment system. Please make an appointment in advance.
In principle we ask patients to visit us periodically, even after treatment is completed, to prevent the recurrence of dental problems.

Medical care system
We provide dental care to approximately 9,000 outpatients each year. An attending dentist system is employed, but a clinical team is sometimes formed. Several dentists, nurses and dental hygienists form a team to provide dental care for children with disabilities or diseases.Treatment policy
Dentistry for children
Target patients are children aged from zero to 16 years. We also provide dental care for children who have difficulty receiving normal dental care and children with disabilities or diseases.In such cases, we cooperate with specialty outpatient clinics, the Center for Advanced Oral Medicine or the Department of Pediatrics of our hospital, depending on the circumstances, to provide dental care. We also visit inpatients of the Department of Pediatrics of our hospital.
Dentistry for disabled persons
Target patients are people with disabilities. If they have acute symptoms due to cavities or gum disorders, we take immediate action to improve the symptoms.If there are no symptoms and the matter is not urgent, we train patients to become used to dental treatment, and only start treatment after patients have become cooperative. To provide safe and accurate treatment, and complete the procedure as soon as possible, however, we may use a mouth opener or physical restraints to prevent dangerous limb movements out of necessity
We cooperate with the Center for Advanced Oral Medicine depending on the circumstances to provide dental care. We also cooperate with the Department of Dental Anesthesiology to provide medical treatment under mild sedation or general anesthesia.

Major tests and equipment
Major tests
In addition to X-rays and other standard tests, tests unique to our department are performed.- Test using standard head X-ray photographs: performed to understand the relationship between the skull and upper/lower jaws and the occlusal condition
- Test using laser Doppler flowmetry: performed to understand the condition of dental pulp of an injured tooth
- Test using a dental prescale: performed to understand the area of occlusal contact, occlusal balance and other occlusal functions
