Clinical Department & Center

Endodontics and Periodontics

Greetings

Located inside the Fifth Clinic , our outpatient department specializes in endodontic and periodontal treatments.
We aim to conserve patients’ precious teeth as long as possible, provide dental care to prevent recurrence, and train professionals capable of providing such care.
Endodontic treatment is performed when advanced tooth decay causes injury of dental nerves or when a lesion expands from the tip of the root to the surrounding tissues. People commonly call this, “root canal treatment.
Periodontal disease is a disease in which plaque causes bleeding or swelling of the gums, destroying the periodontal tissue of the alveolar bone that supports a tooth.
To cure this disease, we begin with plaque control and other treatment to reduce the number of bacteria in the oral cavity, and perform periodontal surgery depending on the severity.

Outline

Medical care system

Approximately 50 dentists (as of March 2016) provide dental care to about 150 outpatients each day. Revisiting patients have to make an appointment, in principle.

Treatment policy

With both endodontic and periodontal treatments, major treatment starts after pain, swelling and other acute symptoms have been removed.
By the nature of the disease, treatment often requires long periods of time. Thus, the attending dentist is decided to proceed with treatment after full consultation with the patient.
Mouth cleaning is indispensable, especially for periodontal treatment. We provide meticulous guidance on mouth cleaning.
To comprehensively treat dental problems, we also cooperate with other clinical departments and specialty outpatient clinics to proceed with treatment.
