Clinical Department & Center

Removable Prosthodontics

Greetings

Our outpatient department provides treatment with partial and complete dentures for patients who have lost part or all of their teeth. For treatment of the entire jaw, malocclusion and various difficult cases, we cooperate with other clinical departments.
We also perform necessary treatment before denture treatment, and treatment for occlusion after implants have been inserted into the jaw.

Outline

Medical care system

A total of 25 full-time and part-time dentists provide dental care to approximately 20,000 outpatients each year (approx. 90/day).

Treatment policy

  • We take care of the physical condition of elderly people and people with diseases who undergo a change in their health, to ensure treatment without anxiety.
  • We always try to listen to what patients are saying.
  • There are many options for prosthetic treatment. We consider as many options as possible, discuss them until the patient is satisfied, and take the patient’s hopes into consideration when deciding on a course of treatment.
  • We employ an appointment system to allow enough time for consultations.
  • As a characteristic unique to university hospitals, there are many inexperienced young dentists. However, experienced dentists provide advice on the diagnosis and treatment policy.

Areas of medical care

We are mainly engaged in prosthetic treatment to compensate for loss of teeth or of the jaw with artificial materials.
  • Treatment using partial or complete dentures
  • Dental implants

Medical care results

Many patients receive treatment with partial and complete dentures, independent of whether it is covered by health insurance or not.
Concerning treatment for the upper structure of implants (malocclusion after implants are placed into the jaw), the number of cases at the end of 2006 was 119, and the number of implants used was 335.
For patients with dentures and implants, regular checkups and adjustments are essential to maintain these prostheses well.
Although it depends on the oral condition, we recommend regular checkups every three to six months. Thank you for your understanding.
