Clinical Research Implementation Policies of Hokkaido University Hospital

To contribute to innovative new medical treatments and technologies, by sharing the results of our reliable clinical research in Hokkaido with the world, clinical research at Hokkaido University Hospital is implemented under the following policies.

Implementation policies

  • All clinical research in our hospital is performed in adherence to the Helsinki Declaration and the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects, etc. after undergoing strict review by an independent and impartial ethical review committee.
  • To ensure the quality and transparency of research, we strictly manage all clinical research conducted at our hospital under the Clinical Research Management Committee led by the Hospital Director, and strive to prevent misconduct and appropriately implement clinical research.
  • To establish a system supporting the conduct of high-quality clinical research and encourage the development of innovative medical technology, we promote clinical research with great social and academic significance.
  • We comprehensively evaluate the burden on patients and the expected risks and benefits to prevent disadvantages to patients.
  • We provide sufficient prior explanations to patients, conduct clinical research with the voluntary consent of patients and protect all personal information.
  • We foster clinical research specialists and support clinical research, not only at our hospital, but also at other medical institutions.
