Gastroenterological Surgery I

Greetings

The Department of Gastroenterological Surgery I was established in 1921, when the hospital affiliated to the School of Medicine of Hokkaido Imperial University was opened. Liver transplantations started to be performed here in 1997.
We provide medical are based on patient-oriented algorithms, that is, evidence-based medical care. A transplant surgery research section is established in the Department of Gastroenterological Surgery I at Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine, and problems encountered in the clinical setting become assignments of the research section.

Medical care system

Our department is divided into four clinical teams of hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, transplant surgery and pediatric surgery.

Treatment policy

To promote evidence-based medical care, we create an algorism and clinical path for each disease to standardize medical care.
This allows us to perform patient-oriented, safe and efficient treatment with excellent clinical results.
