病院長からのご挨拶
北海道大学病院のホームページをご覧いただき、ありがとうございます。
2019年4月1日より3年間、病院長職を拝命いたしましたので、ご挨拶させていただきます。
北海道大学病院は、2021年に設立100周年の節目を迎えます。この間、地域の皆様の要請と社会の変化に応じて、多様な医療を提供して参りました。しかし、設立以来、一貫して、お一人おひとりの患者さんの診療に全力を尽くすこと、「すべては患者さんのために」の精神が原点であることに変わりはありません。ご存知のとおり、日本社会は今後、急激な少子高齢化に対応していかなければなりません。その中心的な役割を医療が担います。その対応が簡単でないことは容易に想像されますが、「すべては患者さんのために」という価値観を今後も本院のすべての職員が共有して参ります。
加えて、本院は、北海道大学という教育・研究機関の主要な一員です。そこに求められるものは、患者さん本位の日常診療に加えて、
1. 高度医療の提供と先進的な医療の開発
2. 難病治療などの最後の砦としての機能
など、地域や社会、あるいは、国や世界からの高度な要請に対応できる人材・設備そして体制です。これまでの日本の優れた医療提供体制を維持しつつ、さらに患者さん、お一人おひとりに合わせた個別化した最先端の治療を提供する体制を整えて参ります。
さらに、教育機関として、将来の医療を支える“人”を育成する役割があります。初期臨床研修医や新しい専門医制度に基づく医師の育成の中心的な役割を期待されており、組織体制の強化を進めております。また、すべての医療人の育成において、これまで以上に高度な教育研修機関としての役割を担って参ります。これらのいずれもが、患者さんおよびご家族の皆様のご理解とご協力なしには、成り立たないものです。ご理解とご協力の程よろしくお願い申し上げます。
今後の3年間、そして、その先の将来も、北海道大学病院に対する患者さんの期待、社会や国の期待に応えるため、職員一同、心を一つにして励んで参ります。
Welcome Message from our Director
Thank you for your visit and your interest in the Hokkaido University Hospital. Allow me to welcome you as the newly appointed hospital director for three years starting April 1, 2019.
Our hospital will mark its centennial in 2021. During our first century, we have continued to provide diverse medical services in response to local needs and social changes. Despite the changes in the services we offer, our dedication remains consistent to our origins – “to always do our best for each patient”. Now, as Japan enters into an aging society with a rapidly declining birthrate, healthcare will come to play a more central role in society. The coming transformation may not be an easy one, but our doctors, nurses, and all our staff will remain committed “to always do our best for each patient”.
In addition to our patient-oriented care, the hospital is mandated to produce highly qualified professionals and to develop and provide advanced treatments as the teaching and research hospital of the Hokkaido University. Furthermore, we will continue to be required to function as the “last stand” for the treatment of intractable diseases. Highly competent individuals, state-of-the-art facilities, and administrative excellence will be required to respond to these and similar demands on the regional, national, and global levels. We strive to provide cutting-edge individualized treatments tailored to each patient within the scope of our country’s excellent healthcare delivery system.
As an educational institution, Hokkaido University Hospital assumes an important role in maturing each person that will support healthcare in the future. We are expected to play a pivotal role in developing young physicians and we continue to fortify our organization to this purpose, especially in light of the coming “new specialist system”. Moreover, we foresee the further development of all our professionals as we strengthen our faculties as an educational/training hospital. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to our patients and their families, without whom none of the above would be possible without their understanding and cooperation.
I am certain that not just the next three, but also in the years to follow, the entire staff at the Hokkaido University Hospital will work together to meet the expectations of our patients, our society and our country.
